Gratuities
Gratuity in South Africa is at your discretion. It is however customary to give a gratuity for good service. The gratuity in a restaurant is generally not included in the final cheque unless specifically stated in the menu or on the cheque itself. If you are not certain, ask a waiter or the manager.
Guidelines:
Porters
R5 per item of luggage
Cab drivers
10% of fair
Waiters/Waitresses
10 to 15% of cheque, but can be more at your discretion
Game activities
10% of the total divided between rangers, trackers and housekeeping staff. This is also at your discretion and can vary.
